All five of the varietals for this blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Cabernet Franc, 8% Merlot, 1% Petite Verdot and 1% Malbec, come from a single vineyard selection, meticulously farmed to our specifications in the Atlas Peak area of Napa Valley. Rocky hillsides with thin soils contribute to small berry size and great concentration in the fruit that is farmed to less than three tons per acre. All the fruit was hand-picked and hand-sorted at the winery before crushing to ensure a true expression of the varietal character. The crushed fruit was cold soaked for three days to extract richness without harsh or dry seed tannins. Fermentations were done in half-ton bins and punched down by hand four times a day.
