Croatto is the brainchild of two men; Piero Croatto and Enzo Pontoni of Miani fame. Together they produce elegant, stylish and traditionally made wines from vineyards located in the southern part of Friuli. The name comes from Obelisco, the highest point of the hill in Buttorio. Enzo is in charge of all aspects of production from vineyard management (practicing organic) to winemaking and his uncompromising approach to wine production is clearly demonstrated by the quality of this wine. Yields are extremely low, with minimal intervention in the cellar. This richly textured, barrel-fermented Friulano is a great match with fish and other light meats.
